Electronics Prototyping

Bringing a new electronic product to the market is known to be a tedious process requiring significant time and effort investment. Verifying your product idea is feasible is an essential step in untangling this complexity. APTILabs tightly built squad of PCB designers, schematic engineers, system architects, QA engineers, embedded programmers, and 3D enclosure modelers employ a holistic approach to electronics creation. Drawing on our unprecedented full-stack development capabilities in hardware design resulting in complete ecosystem to underlie a bleeding-edge electronic solution, we’re set to take your whiteboard vision from concept to full-scale field trials.

Carefully Built Design Process

At APTILabs, we employ a well-defined iterative hardware design process we’ve carefully built over years of dedicated engagement in electronics development for a wide range of commercial initiatives organized by our clients. From sketching and high-level product conceptualization to comprehensive documentation development through to prototyping and supervised mass production, we’re ready to walk you through each phase of the electronic product design.

1. Requirements Gathering

Conceptualization

Assessing expectations of the product, its use cases, manufacturing options.

2. Hardware Architecture Design

Functional Diagram

Defining key functional features: technology, methods, manufacturers, ballpark design and production cost.

3. Schematic Design

Circuit Design

Elaborating circuit design with actual electronic connections based on functional diagram using such tools as Altium Designer and Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition® Enterprise.

Bill of Materials

Selecting relevant electronic components based on required functions and available price.

4. PCB Design

PCB Component Library

Enabling component and reuse management by organizing a library tying together critical data: symbols, cells, padstack, parts.

Schematic Design Transfer

Transferring schematic diagram into a drawing of the printed circuit board and

PCB Stack-up Configuration

Arranging the copper and insulating layers of a PCB to ensure board’s reliability.

PCB Simulation

Verifying PCB’s thermal, signal, and power integrity, as well as electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility through various types of modeling.

5. Board Production

APTILabs may provide support in supervising the production process with the manufacturer of client’s choice.

6. Enclosure Modeling

APTILabs works with select 3D modeling service providers to ensure best possible enclosure options for the product-to-be.

7. Prototyping or Trial Production

Sample Bring-Up

Bringing together the prototype by soldering the electronic components identified in BOM. Extending support in supervising the trial production process.

Debugging and Evaluation

Identifying bugs and elaborating solutions for bug-fixing.

8. Ready for Mass Production

Once the board layout is optimized and verified for correct operation, the mass production can be launched. APTILabs may provide support in supervising the production process with the manufacturer of client’s choice.

At APTILabs, we’ll welcome you on board at any phase of the process, ready to pick up from any point in your development in progress. Just pull together all the available assets, define how you want your future product to pan out, and we’ll do the rest.

In-depth QA for Impeccable Operation (and Lower Costs)

Helping you minimize the production costs is our No. 1 priority. So by the time you approach the Sample Manufacturing phase, we make sure we’ve ironed out all the possible functional kinks by thoroughly testing each deliverable for workability using an in-depth QA process.

iBeacons, BLE-enabled Devices & Other Hardware Transmitters

From smart home and smart enterprise to smart venues, smart cities and beyond, APTILabs aids electronics innovators and business visionaries in harnessing data about real-world physical objects. With about two decades of cumulative knowledge of system software development, hardware design and high-level solutions for human-computer interaction, we are set to create custom beacon hardware employing Bluetooth 4.0 Smart technology to align performance of such devices with clients’ business needs.

APTILabs is an official member of Apple MFi program and can help companies with building iBeacon compatible hardware that beams BLE signal and smoothly converses with all Apple devices and accessories.

To give our clients solutions that add innovative power to their business, we skillfully handle other pioneering projects related to hardware transmitters based on:

  • Classic Bluetooth
  • NFC
  • WiFi
  • 3G
  • IR
  • LED

Whether you are looking to get BLE-enabled hardware bundled with other transmitters and sensors (temperature, motion, sound, vibration etc.), or aim to turn a beacon into a smart accessory fitting the size of a keychain or a tiny RFID tag, or the plan is to create a venue beacon wrapped into an offbeat casing and transformed into creative embellishment with LED lights, APTILabs can help.

We cover the entire hardware design cycle from requirements specification to working prototype to full certification and production support. APTILabs service offering is not limited to hardware design, we get off the mark with iBeacon and transmitter-related projects at low level and bring them to a close with iBeacon apps that reside on end-users’ devices and communicate with them directly.
